Swift Surveillance - A Crucial Intervention in Preventing Harm

GUK provide security services at a prestigious retail site, located in a major city on the South Coast of England. The site consists of large retail units together with considerable area of car parking and public walkways.

Security at the site includes uniformed GUK Officers who are responsible for patrolling the site and interaction with the public on a 24 hour per day bases.  Duties include monitoring CCTV, security patrols and ensuring public safety.

In early April 2024 our CCTV operator observed two youths attacking an elderly man, resulting in him being knocked to the floor and being further assaulted. A GUK security officer immediately went to the scene, where his actions prevented the assault from escalating, and stopped the assailants from causing the victim further injury. The officer was able to detain both assailants, using the minimum amount of force, until they could be handed to the police.

The offenders were arrested by the Police and charged with various offences. Both were known to police and had a history of violent offending.

The presence of the trained GUK security officer prevented serious injury and further offences being committed. This incident serves as a testament to the indispensable role of well-trained and motivated security personnel deployed at our clients’ sites. These officers act as vigilant guardians, ensuring the safety of both property and individuals.
